Eponymy opened its doors in the fall of 2008 with the mission of creating a new shopping experience in Brooklyn; what resulted is a one-of-a-kind cleverly-curated boutique–part clothing store, part gallery, part antique shop–that has quickly demanded the attention of fashion-forward New Yorkers as well as international press, including Harper’s Bazaar, Daily Candy, and New York Magazine.

Owner Andrea Miller carefully hand-selects wardrobe staples from modern lines (Mike & Chris, Kaylee Tankus, Iodice, Vivienne Westwood Anglomania) and mingles them with signature vintage pieces (like cropped tweed jackets from Chanel), and designer resale statements (Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada).  Almost everything in the store is for sale, including furniture, antiques, jewelry, gift items, and carefully curated art from both emerging and more established artists.

The definition of the word eponymy is that something—a place, a discovery, an era—takes its name from that of a person.  The idea behind the boutique, then, is that, among the extensive and diverse offerings, the customer can create his or her own truly personal shopping experience (or discovery or era or style).
